ICCDA aims at encouraging and faciliating international cooperation in the fields of research, education and communciation by creating concrete inter-reginal cooperation between institutes and working groups, discussing issues of interest to all member associations, establishing links between ICCDA associations and international organisations. It develops South-South and North-South collaboration through its network.

ICCDA members

AICARDES stands for the Association of Arab Institutes and Centres for Economic and Social Development Research. AICARDES is hosted by the Institute of Quantitative Economy (IEQ) in Tunisia. The IEQ is a Centre of Economic, Social and competitiveness Studies, created in 1973 and under the tutelage of the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation. The AICARDES website is currently only available in Arabic but an English section is under construction.

APISA, the Asian Political and International Studies Association, is the successor of ADIPA, the Association of Development Research and Training Institutes of Asia and the Pacific. The APISA Secretariat is hosted by the National University of Malaysia in Selangor. APISA is very active in capacity building in Asia and also collaborates with CLACSO and CODESRIA on a joint scholarly program.

The Latin American Social Science Council (Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales, CLACSO) is the only (South) American network within ICCDA, based in Argentina. It was already created in 1967 and now represents more than 170 social science research and training institutes in 21 Latin-American and Caribbean countries. The CLACSO website gives detailed information about its programmes and activities in Spanish, French and Portuguese.

CODESRIA, the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa is headquartered in Dakar Senegal. It was established in 1973 as an independent Pan-African research organisation with a primary focus on the social sciences, broadly defined. It is recognised not only as the pioneer African social research organisation but also as the apex non-governmental centre of social knowledge production on the continent. CODESRIA currently hosts the ICCDA secretariat. The following address is therefore also the official address of ICCDA.
